Trusts aren’t always necessary. The type of people who make the most use of them are the rich and famous. But the average person probably doesn’t need more than a testamentary or minor’s trust, and that’s only if they have children. Trusts that are used to avoid the estate tax are only for the very very rich, and a revocable living trust isn’t the best deal either.

Columbia is an upper middle class city in Howard County, Maryland: a county with one of the highest per capita incomes in the country. Because of that, clients in this county needing legal services have high incomes and work in professions that subject them to civil litigation (lawsuits).

Choosing an Estate Planning Lawyer in Howard County, Maryland


Are there differences between big city attorneys, and attorneys in a distant suburb/exurb like Howard County? Obviously I’m going to be biased and say there aren’t significant differences, as a representative attorney from Howard County. Big city attorneys tend to be part of larger firms, and with larger firms come lawyers to throw at complex legal problems. 

But for most clients this isn’t necessary. Estate planning isn’t exactly simple, and for all but the wealthiest people, the issues facing a client aren’t going to be overwhelming. Attorneys such as myself will have smaller footprints, and thus lower expenses.
